Hundred million crown Citypark Jihlava shopping mall reconstruction under way

Prague/Jihlava, 11 June 2019 – The sole shopping centre in Vysočina Region, Citypark Jihlava, is to undergo an extensive transformation this year. Set in motion in April, the renovation project worth more than CZK 100m is expected to conclude in the autumn. Once complete, it will bring the latest trends to the country’s smallest regional capital. Customers will enjoy a choice of new brands as well as stunning views from a scenic lift.

Shopping centre Citypark Jihlava in the portfolio of CPI Property Group is in the midst of an extensive reconstruction. “We have set aside more than CZK 100m for the intended adjustments and modernisation of our shopping centre in Jihlava. We are confident that the result will be appreciated not only by our tenants but also by customers coming to do their shopping. After all, it is the customers’ enjoyment and comfort that motivates and drives the whole project,” says Petr Brabec, Head of Asset Management, Shopping Centres, CPI Property Group.

The project’s modernisation efforts will concentrate mainly on the interiors of the shopping centre. “Renovation of the gallery is already under way. It will be followed by a refit of the existing food court, with a major overhaul in store for the restaurants area as well,” says Aleš Navrátil, Asset Manager at CPI Property Group. “Once that is completed, there will be some 260 seats, about 60 more than what is currently available. The whole catering area, set to become much lighter, will be partitioned into several separate zones to ensure more mealtime privacy. And, in line with our customers’ wishes and global trends, there will also be considerably more greenery in the catering area,” adds Aleš Navrátil.

Customer comfort will also get a boost from the installation of new bathroom conveniences on the first underground floor, while the existing bathroom facilities will be refurbished. Moving across the shopping centre’s four levels, from the car park to the top shopping gallery, will be made much more enjoyable thanks to the installation of a scenic lift.

Tenants too are contributing to the revitalisation of the mall. “Numerous tenants, such as dm drogerie, Pepco or House to name a few of the bigger ones, and O2, Fortuna or Geco who occupy smaller units, will relocate and rearrange their outlets. A3 Sport and Tescoma are two of the tenants who plan to open new shops. Marks & Spencer’s will be replaced in November by another major fashion brand in an outlet second in terms of floor area only to the Albert supermarket,” reveals Aleš Navrátil.

Citypark Jihlava celebrates 11 years of its existence this year. In 2009, the structure was recognised as Building of the Year. “Our shopping centre boasts a timeless design that blends perfectly with its surroundings,” says the mall’s manager Eva Blažková. “We are already looking forward to the completion of the refurbishment, expected this autumn. We are quite sure our customers will be as excited as we are,” concludes Eva Blažková.

CPI Property Group owns 15 shopping centres across the Czech Republic. In addition to reconstructions and refurbishments, the Group also invests in retailers’ development through its CPI Akademie Retail programme. The programme provides education in a range of areas, such as the psychology of retail sales, the development of sales skills and current retail trends.
